A Constitutional Convention needs to be called to rewrite the Pension laws. This ‘Pensions shall not be diminished’ clause will be the death of the state. They have to be diminished. Sorry, retirees, but nobody gets compound interest on retirements except public sector workers and nobody should. Your pension should be recalculated using simple interest on what your income was the day you retired. I am moving out of state specifically because of the pension and tax mess Illinois has become.
